Young women in hospitality training at Maisha House

The Maisha House Program

Maisha House provides a safe home and path forward for young women in Tanzania facing abuse, extreme poverty, unsafe living conditions, and limited access to education or work opportunities.

How It Works

Every young woman's journey is different, but the program follows a clear pathway—from immediate safety to long-term independence. Here is how that process unfolds, step by step.

Step 1

Safe Refuge

When a young woman arrives, the first priority is immediate safety—a secure, welcoming home where she can rest, settle, and begin to breathe again.

Step 2

Healing Support

Healing begins the moment she arrives. Through safety, stability, therapy, mentorship, and daily care, she is supported as she processes what she has been through and begins to rebuild trust and confidence.

Step 3

Education & Life Skills

With stability in place, she receives support for continued learning, English skills, basic education, and practical life skills. Hands-on opportunities may include technology training, cooking classes, gardening, hospitality preparation, and other learning that builds confidence for daily life.

Step 4

Career Pathways

As she grows ready, Maisha House helps connect her with hospitality-focused internships and supported work opportunities. These experiences help her build confidence, gain practical skills, and take steps toward independence through real-world hospitality training.

Who the Program Supports

Maisha House supports young women who are facing unsafe living conditions, abuse, extreme poverty, limited access to education, or a lack of stable support. Each young woman is met with care, dignity, and the chance to begin building a future beyond survival.

Program details are guided by Maisha House leadership and handled with care on a case-by-case basis.
