A Letter from Our Director

Dr. Thomas Smith, Director, Maisha House Educational Scholarship Fund

Dear Friend,

Every day, young girls in our community face dangers that threaten their safety, education, and future—from the risk of sexual violence while walking to school, to early forced marriages, to the lasting trauma of exploitation. At Maisha House, we believe no girl should have her future stolen before she's even had the chance to dream.

The Maisha House Educational Scholarship Fund provides these girls with the opportunity to rise above these obstacles, offering them a safe path to complete their education, gain valuable vocational skills, and live as confident, contributing citizens.

Here's what your scholarship support provides:

  • Full tuition and daily round-trip transportation
  • Daily meals and essential school supplies
  • Medical care and counseling services
  • Vocational mentorship, career readiness training, and job placement assistance

As you can see, so much is accomplished for so little.

Our scholarship recipients range from ages 14 to 21, and many attend the KIDS Kilimanjaro Institute for Developmental Studies or other respected vocational institutions. Our dedicated team in partnership with trusted community leaders, social workers, and faith-based organizations ensures that each girl is not only safe but fully supported in her academic journey.

Before classes begin, each young woman enters a pre-training program where she builds essential skills in reading, writing, personal finance, emotional resilience, and self-confidence. From there, she begins her formal vocational studies in areas like tourism, hospitality, and culinary arts. Every graduate completes an internship to put her new skills into practice, ensuring she is job-ready the moment she completes her training.

This is more than education. It's transformation. Your support is giving each girl the chance to rewrite her story, step into her potential, and live a life free from the dangers and limitations she once faced.

On behalf of every girl whose life you touch, thank you for your generosity, your belief in their future, and your partnership with Maisha House.

Blessings,

Dr. Thomas Smith
